SUFA is pleased to refer you to the Westerly Animal Shelter, Hopkinton Animal Shelter, Stonington Animal Shelter, North Stonington Animal Shelter, Bed and Biscuit Inn Adoptable Dogs, and Wings of Freedom for pet adoptions. Please remember, a pet is a life long responsibility and many of these animals have already been abandoned. It’s also important to allow for “decompression when bringing home a new pet”. Please read this article from American Kennel Club for tips on what to do and how to recognize signs of stress.

Hazel ~ Featured Pet of the Month

Sam, Animal Control Officer for the Town of Hopkinton, would like to tell you about her new friend Hazel. Hazel was found and brought to the shelter on March 27, 2023. From Sam ~ We were never able to find her previous owner but lucky her she got to stay here and get a chance at a New Home. Hazel is a young pit mix female. She may be part kangaroo as this girl can jump!

Hazel’s new home should be fenced in and with someone who is going to be willing to put in some time with her. She needs some basic training. She is housebroken but has poor jumping manners, and HER TAIL!!!! OUCH! Hazel is Dog Friendly and more than likely Cat Curious… Her energy may be too much for a cat if I’m going to be honest.

If you’re looking for a young girl who will love to go on long walks in the woods, enjoy watching movies on rainy days, and be excited to see you when you return home from a long day at work look no further!!! If interested, APPLY TO ADOPT and Sam will call you once your application is processed.
