Financial Support for Emergency Medical Expenses: Stand Up For Animals continues to support our local community (Stonington, Westerly and surrounding towns) with emergency medical pet care through the Chariho-Westerly Animal Welfare Committee.  Last year alone we contributed over $18,000 in pet medical emergencies for local community families that needed help.  If you are in need of assistance, please email us at info@standupforanimals.org or call the office at (401) 348-9595.

* Of necessity, the financial health and adherence to our mission influences the number and amount of financial assistance offered to these families.

Trap, Neuter, Release Program:  Along with medical pet care we also participate in a catch, spay/neuter release program (TNR) for feral cats plus we provide dry and wet cat food for many feral cat colonies in the area. Our monitored TNR program is a humane, effective approach at helping community (feral) cats.  Community cats are considered to be an offspring of domesticated cats that no longer live with humans and are often members of colonies that reside in one area.  These cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, ear tipped and returned back to their familiar colony to live out the remainder of their lives.  If you would like to support our monitored TNR program and are in a position to help, donations are accepted at Red Stone Tire, 114 Ashaway Road in Westerly so that we can keep these separate from shelter donations.  Red Stone’s hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00AM – 5:00PM.

Emergency Evacuations/Temporary Housing: The Animal Shelter facility is available to residents during emergency evacuations. Before an emergency or storm, please make sure your pets are prepared. Please be ready by filling out this form in advance. Disaster Preparedness

The shelter also offers temporary housing for pets during times of hardship such as in cased of domestic abuse, hospitalization or loss of home due to fire or other disasters. For more information please call 401-584-7941.
